"Mark, my words"

This Sunday (11.24.19) I preached about giving thanks. I spoke from Psalm 100, which has these great words in verse 4:
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”
I have so much to give thanks for, and doing so helps me to come into the presence of God.

I am thankful that I have been saved by Jesus. It’s nothing I deserve and everything I need. I know you expect me to say that because I am a Pastor, but I hope all of us who follow Jesus would say it because it’s true!

I am thankful for my wife Karla. She isn’t perfect, and I am glad. If she was perfect she would never have married me 25 years ago!

I am thankful for my boys. Fernando and Carlos turned my life and my heart upside down when we adopted them, and it’s been an amazing adventure every day since.

I am thankful for my amazing job. Somewhere in Eastern Kentucky there is a guy digging coal in a dog-hole mine just to feed his family. I am not that guy! I get to read the Bible, read other fascinating works, have coffee with people, pray with people, visit them in the hospital and at their homes, and spend an hour each Sunday with some of the most amazing people
around.

What are you thankful for? Take some time right now, and write down a few notes. If you can’t think of anything, slow down and ask God to open your eyes. I am sure something will come to mind.

If you are in a bad spot this time of year, for whatever reason, drop me a note and let me know how I can pray for you!

In God’s Grip,
Pastor Mark
