From the Pastor - May 28, 2017

Dear Friends,

In Sweden, in 1868 God started doing some amazing things in both the Baptist and Lutheran churches. The Holy Spirit was bringing renewal and revival to both churches, and a group began to gather with people from both churches.

One of their main interests was reflected in the name of their new organization; "Swedish Mission Friends.”

This group eventually became the Swedish Covenant Church. When many of those Swedes came to America, they brought their church with them. Recognizing a need to reach more immigrants than just Swedes, the name eventually was changed to the Evangelical Covenant Church.

What survived the various changes in both location and name, was the importance of supporting missions. It was in the developmental DNA as we began and it is still vitally important in our churches today.

The changes that have occurred in the past fifty years have greatly impacted how global mission work is done and while the mechanisms have changed, the goal remains the same: to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to every man, woman and child in the world!

The message this morning will dive deeper into these amazing changes.

In God's Grip,
Pastor Mark
