From the Pastor - June 4, 2017

Dear Friends,

The missional marker we are going to look at this morning is "Compelling Christian community.”  I am acutely aware that some of you see me as an outsider, and in some ways I am.  I wasn't born here; I don't have multiple family members that attend here, and it's been less than a year since I became your Pastor.

In a deeper, more biblically accurate sense, I am a member of this community.  There are too many verses that apply here; just trust that the Bible paints a beautiful picture of inclusion and acceptance into HIS community.  From the old testament to the new, God has always been in the business of breaking down barriers and bringing people together.

This takes far more than a cup of coffee and some snacks after church on Sunday.  This morning I will be announcing an exciting new plan to bring our community closer together and deepen the bonds of Christian love and care that we already have.

For the record, I think we are doing a good job of being a warm, open and welcoming congregation.  I am also incredibly excited to see how we become closer to each other as we intentionally build community here at Lake Union.

In God's Grip,
Pastor Mark
